The Ouroboros came from the success of the Libre and the Sutra LTD. The Ouroboros brings big tire and suspension fork clearance, dropper post compatibility and a loadable fork. Frame design is driven by the Kona form language and brings a more robust aesthetic to Kona's gravel offerings.
Designed closely following the Rove NRB, this project focused largely on furthering the understanding and unity of the product range. To do this I built on the form language established in previous projects. While Kona's history does include several road bikes, the influences for this bike are purposely sourced from the mountain bike and cyclocross lineage.
2017 Jake AL + Rove Tube and dropout redevelopment. Priority for these redesigns was to explore portage comfort as well as ride compliance within an economical aluminum tube set. Drop out redesign dually focused on bringing through axles to these bikes as well as providing considered mounts for racks and fenders. The New Road Bike. At this point in time the world of road bicycles was just discovering and accepting the advantages that larger tires bring to riding. The recreational and transportation cycling markets at this point began to emphasize the experience and fun of riding over strictly speed and performance. The NRB is a direct reflection of this marketplace shift.
