The Big Honzo carbon closely followed development of the Process 153 Carbon. This project further pushed the development teams understandings of the capabilities of modern carbon construction. With big tires, short chain stays, and big chain rings, the real estate available for frame structure becomes the challenge. Form development to provide these clearances started by casting a wide net, sketching out many different avenues for chain stay designs. Through sketching, CAD modelling, and vendor consultation we settled on a more subtle solution that was not a departure from the brands form language.
Development of a new carbon fork for the Woo frameset. Previous Kona fat bikes forks were a heavy hydroformed aluminum construction. To improve frame weight and ride characteristics we developed a carbon fiber fat bike fork. Form language and feature lines were referenced from existing Kona carbon forks and applied to the fat bike framework.
